Pygmy Cory (Corydoras pygmaeus)

 
The Pygmy Cory, or Corydoras pygmaeus, hails from South America in the Amazon River basin, specifically found in Peru, Colombia, and Brazil. Their natural habitat are slow-moving streams & tributaries, as well as flooded areas during the wet season ... having a preference to dwell in shallow waters, often among fallen leaves, submerged branches, and soft riverbeds. The Pygmy cory is a dwarf cory growing only to 1" to 1.25" at maturity -- one of the smallest catfish available! Pygmy corys prefer sand substrate or smooth gravel and need to have places to hide, so an addition of driftwood, caves, and plants will keep them happy and reduce stress.
